Biography

Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, Molly came to Texas Christian University to gain a new perspective and continue her philsophical and writing studies. During her years at TCU she developed her interest in writing, which evolved from being solely creative to adding rhetorical theory emphasizing on the importance of how it is used, based on the audience and time. For two years, Molly worked as a Writing Associate for TCU's English Department, tutoring students in freshman and sophomore composition courses to help make them produce better quality works of writing and aid them in growing and identity as a writer.

Now, in her last semester, Molly is an intern with The TCU Magazine and wrote several pieces for the magazine's Frog Blog, two pieces for the print edition of the magazine and other pieces that appeared on the magazine's main site.

Outside of the classroom, Molly is a fan of graphic novels and comics (especially the work of Dennis O'Neil, Neil Gaiman, Greg Rucka and Gail Simone), historical fiction, musicals, and fine art (namely classical sculpture and the pop art of Roy Lichtenstein). She is also a frequenter of karaoke bars where she can be seen belting out the discography of Guns n' Roses. Recently, she fulfilled a life goal by assembling her current desktop computer.

Molly Mahan graduated a semester early in December of 2009. In the summer of 2010 she plans to go to the American School of Classical Studies at Athens to pursue her interests in the classical world. After observing the classical rhetoric and culture in context, she plans to apply to graduate school and officially begin her life as a scholar of classical rhetoric and culture.
